Curved out of Toro kingdom, Bundibugyo district with an area of 2261 sq. km came into existence in 1980. It is bordered by Kasese in the south, the Democratic Republic of Congo in the west, Lake Albert in the north and Kabarole to the east.
Tourist Attractions include the scenic Rwenzori ranges, the Bambuti (pygmies found near Ntandi), Semliki forest reserve and Semliki National Park that is well known for the Sempaya hot springs.
Climate: With moderately high rainfall and temperatures, Bundibugyo lies at an altitude ranging between 619 m and 3556 m above sea level.
