It is located in Old Kampala near the preserved site where Captain Fredrick Lugard had built hist fort. The area is also the seat of the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council.  The original plan of this mosque where designed during the era of Idi Amin but stalled due to lack of funds until 2003 when Col Muammar Gadaffi of Libya (RIP) stepped in to fund the whole project.

It's court yard is enormous, neat and well maintained with a vast parking space.
