The Stride Monument, located at the Parliament gardens between Shimon road and the parliamentary building, is Kampala's latest piece of national artifact to be unveiled.
Funded by the Government of Uganda through the Ministry of Tourism Trade and Industry, the Stride Monument was built by 11 professional sculptors headed by Prof. George Kyeyune.
Unveiled by the Queen of England during her visit to Uganda, this monument was erected in commemoration of Uganda's hosting of the prestigious Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in November 2007.
Depicting a husband, wife and son moving forward, the monument symbolizes the commonwealth of countries developing together as a family.
