Situated north of the Uganda-Tanzania border Sango Bay adjoins Lake Nabugabo to the north, Lake Victoria shoreline to the east, and the main road between Masaka and Mutukula border at the Tanzanian border to the west.

There are five main forest reserves namely; Tero East & West, Kaiso, Malabigambo and Namalala broadly classified as swamp forest. The area is considered of bigeograhic interest as it lies in the transition between the East and West African vegetation zones.
