Kibale Forest National Park

Kibale forest situated in west part of Uganda near Fort portal is well known for Chimpanzee tracking. This forest is home to a remarkable 13 primate species among which are the Red Colobus and L’Hoest’s monkey.

Through a network of well maintained trails you will get the opportunity to track the habituated chimpanzees while birders will surely be in for a treat with 335 species of recorded birds including the endemic Prirogrine’s ground thrush.

Access: Fort portal lies 320 km from Kampala or an hour’s drive from Kasese. The park headquarters at Kanyanchu are 35 km’s from Fort portal.

Where to Stay: Recommended accommodation facilities include Kibale Safari Lodge, Primate Lodge and Ndali Lodge. However, one can also drive and stay at Fort Motel or Mountains of the Moon Hotel in Fort Portal.
