Includes a permanent high altitude swamp (Muchuya) at 2,300 m about 7km long by upto 750 m wide in a narrow valley surrounded by steep forested hill sides. The swamp vegetation is dominated by sedges and include tussock vegetation and giant lobelias. The flora in the swamp is characteristic of highland vegetation.
There are 124 species of plants , 19 small mammal species including 4 albertine endemics namely; Rwenzori Mouse Shrew, the Climbing Shrew, Woosnam's Brush-furred Rat and Montane Marsh Rat.
